Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Daily Blade. The Word of God is described as the sword of the Spirit, the primary spiritual weapon in the Christian's armor against the forces of evil. Your hosts are Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson, and they stand ready to equip men for the fight. Let's sharpen up.

Speaker 2:

Alright, this week we're talking about hate, so specifically hating evil, and we're doing so as we dive into Psalm 97. So let me read it here again, and I'll be reading from the ESV, and it's called the Lord Reigns. The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice, let the many coastlands be glad. Clouds and thick darkness are all around him. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around His foundation of his throne. Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around. His lightings light up the world. The earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim his righteousness and all the peoples see his glory. All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boasts in worthless idols. Worship him all you, gods. Zion hears and is glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoice because I mentioned yesterday, is sown for the righteous and joy for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, o you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name.

Speaker 2:

So, guys, as I mentioned yesterday, the entire week we're going to be focusing in on verse 10. Again, I'll read it O you who love the Lord, hate evil. He preserves the lives of his saints. He delivers them from the hand of the wicked, and, specifically, my thesis is that we, as Christians, don't hate evil nearly enough. So today we're going to be talking about how Christians don't hate the evil of abortion enough.

Speaker 2:

So there are a lot of third rails in modern day culture and politics, and abortion has to be one of the biggest ones, and has been for a long time Now. Christians across the globe, and specifically in America, have consistently been the ones at the forefront of the fight for life. Thankfully, however, I would say that the majority of Christians are actually pretty squishy on the subject of life. So I've seen interviews with supposedly Christian pro-lifers and I've seen them just absolutely fall to pieces when challenged by leftists or pro-abortion people as to why we should protect unborn children or pro-abortion people as to why we should protect unborn children. They typically have no answer to the most common pro-abortion arguments, such as you know what about rape and incest? Or my body, my choice, or Christians only care about the baby before it's born, or you know stuff like that. So I have a speech that I actually give that helps to equip Christian pro-lifers with ways to answer those objections, but we need to focus in on why Christians should hate the evil of abortion more. So, to be clear, not hating the people involved in the abortion right, but hating the evil of the procedure of abortion and the actions therein, which concludes with the destruction of an image bearer of God. Okay, so here are three reasons why we should hate abortion more.

Speaker 2:

Reason one abortion kills innocent human beings and guys. God hates that right. I mean, god says this in Proverbs 6, verses 16 and 17. There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him Haughty eyes, a lying tongue and hands that shed innocent blood. And it obviously goes on from there.

Speaker 2:

Now, when I train people on this subject, I tell them that they need to memorize the pro-life argument, which is actually really simple. It's two parts. Part one abortion intentionally and directly kills innocent human life. Part two it is always wrong to intentionally and directly kill innocent human life. I'll say it again Abortion intentionally and directly kills innocent human life. I'll say it again Abortion intentionally and directly kills innocent human life. It is always wrong to intentionally and directly kill innocent human life, period.

Speaker 2:

Reason number two God knows us all and forms us in our mother's wombs.

Speaker 2:

So God says through the prophet Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 1 to 5, before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you, I appointed you a prophet to the nations.

Speaker 2:

We aren't just a clump of cells, right, the moment a one-celled egg cell of our mamas joins with the one-celled sperm cell of our dads and creates a one-celled zygote that's us Like, at that moment, a new human being is now taking up space on God's earth, and God sees us through the rest of our days from there. And reason number three Christians are called to defend the helpless. God says in Proverbs 24, 11, rescue those who are being taken away to death, hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. So, guys, it is our duty. Okay, it's not a privilege, it's not something that we should do when it's convenient. It is our duty to protect those who have no way of protecting themselves, and that is no more true for anyone on this planet than the unborn. So are Christians called to hate? Yes, we are called to hate evil, and our hatred must compel us to act. So we should push back the darkness of abortion at every opportunity. Amen.
