The Daily Blade: Joby Martin & Kyle Thompson
#153 - Joby Martin // Run Over by the Grace Train
The moment we're rescued by Jesus we become part of His rescue team, demonstrated by the woman at the well who immediately shared her testimony with others after meeting Christ. God transforms our biggest messes into platforms for sharing the gospel, as newly saved people are typically the most passionate about telling others about their life change.
• Jesus had a divine appointment with the Samaritan woman, revealing His identity as the Messiah
• The woman immediately left her water jar to tell townspeople about Jesus
• Many Samaritans believed first because of her testimony, then because they met Jesus themselves
• Jesus explained to His disciples that "the fields are white for harvest"—many people are ready to receive the gospel
• Christians should identify "one more" person God has placed in their life as a divine appointment
• Practical ways to share faith include telling your personal story, inviting someone to church, sharing sermon links, or offering prayer
• Changed people naturally share what changed them—you don't need perfect theology to share your testimony

Welcome to the Daily Blade. The Word of God is described as the sword of the Spirit, the primary spiritual weapon in the Christian's armor against the forces of evil. Your hosts are Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson, and they stand ready to equip men for the fight. Let's sharpen up.
Speaker 2:All right day five. On a deep dive in John, chapter four, here's what I want you to see. I want you to see the reality of this the moment that we are rescued by Jesus, we become a part of the rescue team, and one of the things that I've noticed over and over and over in my long time in ministry like maybe 32 or three years of full-time ministry is the people that have just gotten saved are always the most excited about sharing the good news of the gospel and sharing their own life change with those around them, and this is true also with the woman at the well. We'll pick it up in verse 27. It says just then the disciples came back, remember. They were in town and they marveled that Jesus was talking with a woman, but no one said what do you seek or why are you talking with her? So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people come and see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ? They went out of the town and they were coming to him. You see, one of the things that this reminds me of is when this woman and everybody knew of her reputation says that she may have encountered the Christ. I need you to know that God is in the business of taking our biggest messes and using them for the message of the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, that God can use even our own self-inflicted pain as one of the biggest platforms for us to shout from the hilltops that Jesus Christ saves, and if he can save a sinner like me, then he can save a sinner like you too. Verse 31,.
Speaker 2:Meanwhile, the disciples were urging Jesus, saying Rabbi, eat. But Jesus said to them I have food to eat that you do not know about. So the disciples said to one another has anyone brought him something to eat? And Jesus said to them I have food to eat that you do not know about. So the disciples said to one another has anyone brought him something to eat? And Jesus said to them my food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish this work. This is the explanation of why Jesus said he had to go to Samaria, because this was the work that the father had given to him.
Speaker 2:Verse 35, do you not say there yet four months? Then comes the harvest. Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes and see that the fields are white for harvest. That means that there has been a lot of work done out there and there are a lot of people that are ready to come to Christ for salvation. We just need the workers.
Speaker 2:Verse 36,. Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. For here the saying holds true one sows and another reaps. I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored and you have entered into their labor.
Speaker 2:Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony. He told me all that I ever did. So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them and he stayed there two days. And many more believed because of his word. They said to the woman it is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world. This is the first evangelist in the New Testament that this unlikely character, this sinful woman who has been redeemed by Christ, is the first one to run into town. She doesn't have a theological dissertation ready, but what she does is she shares what has just happened to her.
Speaker 2:Listen, man changed. People share the good news of the gospel. People who have been run over by the grace train. Everything changes in their life and when people say what is different about you, they are willing to share. We, as followers of Jesus, have been commanded and called to share our faith. I mean the Great Commission says therefore, go and make disciples of every nation, every tribe, every tongue, every nation, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 2:Around here at 1122,. We ask every single one of our folks that are followers of Jesus to identify one more person, just one person in their life that God has placed in their life that you see as a divine appointment, like Jesus had with this woman at the well, and I want to encourage you to start praying for that one person over and over and over and over. I have a verse. I have a bunch of verses tattooed on me, but one of them is Acts 11, 24. It says and he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord, and a great number in the scriptures is just one more. So who is that one more person that you can identify and you can start praying for? And I dare you to ask God for opportunities to share your faith and what that means.
Speaker 2:If you ask God for opportunities to share your faith with your one more, that's a prayer he wants to answer, and so you need to look for opportunities to share the gospel. Sometimes you share the whole gospel. You're your own little Billy Graham. You share that we are created by God, that sin fractured, that that Jesus came to pay our sin debt and whoever believes in Christ receives the right to become a child of God. Or maybe, maybe you don't have the opportunity to do that, or you tried and it didn't go good.
Speaker 2:You could share an invitation to church. Just say hey and not a non-invitation. Not, you should come to church with me sometime, but this Sunday let's meet at 1030. We'll meet at the 1122 service and I'll take you to lunch afterwards. Whatever it is, you could share an invitation to church. You could share a link to a sermon with a salvation invitation at the end.
Speaker 2:I have plenty of those you could share one of mine or anybody else's, or, like this woman, sometimes you just share your story, like people may ask you theological questions and a wonderful answer. If you don't know, the answer is I don't know, I'll go find out, but I don't know the answer to that. But what I do know is that I used to be lost and now I am found. Sometimes this is a big one. You share a burden. What if you were known as the prayer person in your office or on your team? And then sometimes, when the folks aren't ready, you just share another cup of coffee because you love this person. And they're not a project, they are a person loved by Christ. So this woman's life is changed by Jesus. She is run over by the grace train and it changes everything, about everything and about everything. And the first thing that she does is she goes and tells, shares her faith that Christ saved her Men. May we do the same thing, amen.
Speaker 1:Thank you for listening to today's episode Before you go. If you want to help equip other men for the fight, share this podcast around and leave us a five-star rating and review. Stay sharp.
