Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Daily Blade. The Word of God is described as the sword of the Spirit, the primary spiritual weapon in the Christian's armor against the forces of evil. Your hosts are Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson, and they stand ready to equip men for the fight. Let's sharpen up.

Speaker 2:

Hey guys, shane here, and Shane, welcome to the Daily Blade. We are on day four of going through the Psalms this week. Let's go Today is a favorite, psalm 23, and we hope it blesses you. Let's sing together. Surely goodness, surely mercy, surely goodness, surely mercy, surely mercy. Right beside me all my days and I will dwell in your house forever, trust forever and bless your holy name. Real simple.

Speaker 2:

I'm not going to talk a lot today. I'm just going to read one verse and it's the chorus of this song, and I just am so grateful for one word in particular in this song. It might be, wow, one of my favorite words in all of the Bible Surely goodness and mercy will follow you all. Surely goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life. And if it wasn't for that word, all I think I would be in a heap of trouble. Isn't that amazing? There's not. There's not like a microsecond in this life as God's kid that is minus or without his goodness and mercy, um, and that's. That's hard to believe sometimes, in the midst of all the things and the diagnoses and all the disappointments. But it is indeed a promise and we can take it to the bank. And so if you're in the valley of the shadow of death, know that his goodness and mercy didn't go away. It is right there. It is right there. It is right there, and that's just a helpful thing for me to remember.

Speaker 2:

Every single day, from now until forever, eternity will be full of his goodness and mercy and it will never leave me. It will never leave me. It will never leave me, that's all. And so we sing through it. The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. You can just open the lyrics there, or just open your Bible, either one, and sing along with us. The Lord is my shepherd. The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want In green pastures. He makes me lie down, he restores my soul and leads me on for his name, for his great name, for His great name. Surely goodness, surely mercy, right beside me All my days, and I will dwell in your house forever and bless your holy name. You prepare a table right before me In the presence of my enemies, though the arrow flies and the terror of night is at my door.

Speaker 2:

I'll trust you. Lord. Surely goodness, surely mercy Right beside me all my days and I will dwell in your house forever and bless your holy name. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you are on my side. You are on my side. Thank you, lord. Even though I walk, even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, oh, I will fear no evil. You are there. You are there, even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Oh, you are on my side.

Speaker 2:

Surely goodness, surely mercy, right beside me all my days and bless your holy name. Father, I pray for my brother, for my sister out there that just doesn't believe that your goodness and mercy has stuck around, and I pray that you would just, by the power of your Holy Spirit, convince them that you have not left, that you will respond as surely as the rain comes in the spring. And would you encourage their heart today by your word, with your word. Thank you for the gift of singing to you, thank you, thank you for never leaving of singing to you, thank you. Thank you for never leaving us or forsaking us, thank you, thank you that your goodness and mercy is right beside us. We praise you, lord. Thank you in Jesus name, amen.

Speaker 2:

Amen, that was fun. That was fun. Thank you, brother, thank you, sister, for joining us, having the faith to use your god-given voice to call out to him, to magnify him, to bless his holy name. It is a large reason why you have vocal cords that you would magnify the Lord with them, and so thanks for bringing them here and joining us, and our only ask of you is that you would bring that wonderful voice back tomorrow with an open heart. We're going to be here and we're going to see what God does. Have an awesome day of worship.
