Welcome to the Daily Blade. The Word of God is described as the sword of the Spirit, the primary spiritual weapon in the Christian's armor against the forces of evil. Your hosts are Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson, and they stand ready to equip men for the fight. Let's sharpen up.
SPEAKER_01:All right, welcome to day four as we unpack the Shema as an evaluative tool on how we are living our life. Jesus, quoting the Shema, says that we should love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. I want to look at it what it means to love the Lord your God with your mind. Romans chapter 12, verse 2 says, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God and what is good and acceptable and perfect. You see, that word conform, that is uh it's a building term. If you've ever poured concrete, then you built a form, you pour the concrete in it, and the concrete takes the shape of the form. And so we live in a world that lies to us every single day. It wants us to feed our flesh, it wants us to make much of ourself, it wants us to think that the temporary things of this world will satisfy. And so Paul says this is a mind problem. You see, the moment you got saved, you got a brand new heart, that the eternal trajectory of your soul changed, but you still have the same mind, and it has been conformed to the pattern that you've lived in, which is this world. But what he is telling us to do is that our mind has to be transformed and it needs to be renewed. And the way you renew something is you take off the old and you put on the new. So one of the things I would highly encourage you to do is identify the lies of this world that you've been buying into, like more stuff will make me happy, or the more popular I am, the bigger deal I am. You you deny the lies of the enemy and you replace them with the word of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. That is the word of God. You see, when the enemy himself came before Jesus to tempt him three times in the desert, the way that Jesus responded all three times was it is written, it is written, it is written. And so a part of the way that we renew our mind is we quit filling it with the junk of this world. We identify the lies of this world, and we replace it with some it is written, some scripture in our life. Second Corinthians chapter 10, verse 3. Kyle's talked about this one a lot. It says this, for though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our war warfare are not of the flesh, but have divine power to destroy destroy strongholds. All right, how are we going to do that? Paul here's how. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. So quit believing everything you think, and instead align your thinking with the word of God. Philippians chapter four, verse eight, Paul says this Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever whatever is commendable, if there is anything excellent, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the peace of God will be with you. So let me ask you are you filling your mind, the TV you watch, the music you listen to, the comedy that you enjoy, are these things honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, worthy of praise? Well, if not, then you should pay very close attention to why you're putting that junk in your mind and why you are allowing that kind of junk in your family. I mean, the question is this are you filling your mind with trash and then wondering why your life smells like a dumpster file? Evaluate yourself. Am I loving the Lord my God with all of my mind? And so, just like we talked about yesterday, what are some of the things that I'm putting into my mind that I need to quit putting in my mind? Some of you are just obsessed with too many podcasts, with too much political pontification and those kind of things and conspiracy theories, and it's trash, man. It is not leading you to Christ. It is not leading you to adore Christ, it's not leading you to see other people as people that Jesus died for. And so some of you need to turn those things off and stay tuned in to podcasts like this and Undaunted Life and Deepen and all of those kind of things so that you can fix your mind on Jesus. Because we are not to be double-minded men. We are to be singularly focused on Jesus Christ. So this year, for us to love the Lord our God with all, what are the things we need to quit filling up our mind with, and what scripture do we need to go to to put that there so that we can experience the peace that God has for us.
