0:20 Grace, 0:22 mmm, how sweet the sound of grace. 0:27 One of my hopes and one of my passions is, not only as a pastor but as a disciple of Jesus is that grace would not simply be an abstract theological word in the dusty caverns of our minds, 0:41 but the grace would be King Jesus himself, but the grace would be King Jesus himself. 0:45 For John 1.14 says and we beheld him full of grace and truth. 1:03 Yes, it's true that grace is indeed the unearned, the unmerited, the unworked for gift of God. 1:13 Grace is a person and his name is Jesus. 1:14 Grace is God's righteousness at Christ's expense. 1:16 Grace is God and Christ being for us, what we could never be and do. 1:22 Grace is not simply God saying hey, 1:27 I forgive you. 1:28 Oh, it's so much more. 1:29 Not only does he throw our sins into the sea of God's forgotten memory, he takes our sins away. 1:37 But then grace gives us something too. 1:42 Grace says you are holy and blameless. 1:46 Holy means sacred, that you're set apart, that the blood of Christ, that you are owned by him, that you belong to him. 1:54 You are sacred, you are holy, you are his beloved. 1:58 Grace says that not only you're holy and blameless, not only are you his beloved, but that you are as righteous as Jesus. 2:05 That that's your position in Christ. 2:07 And grace says that as you trust me by the faith that brought you to my heart, that same faith will grow you to reflect my heart. 2:17 Grace says you are my bride and I cherish you. 2:22 Grace says you are my temple and I indwell you. 2:26 Grace says you are my body and I empower you. 2:32 Grace says 2:35 I love you and I will never not love you. 2:40 On August 2nd 1997, 2:43 I had my grace awakening After five years in the National Football League, where my whole life was defined on how fast are you? 2:52 How tall are you? 2:53 How big are you? 2:54 How strong are you? 2:55 How well did you play? 2:56 How good did you do your job? 3:00 It was utterly exhausting. 3:03 I was striving, and the more I accomplished, the more I saw that my accomplishments could never, ever meet my deepest need. 3:14 My deepest need was love. 3:16 Your deepest need was love. 3:20 And so often we project onto God 3:24 what we believe he's like. 3:26 We think he's like people who say I love you if 3:31 I love you, if I love you if you can, I love you if you do. 3:36 Our God is not a transactional God, he's a transformational God. 3:40 He's a God who says 3:42 I have loved you before time ever began. 3:46 And my love for you is not predicated upon what you do or don't do. 3:51 I am love, I am grace. 3:55 And when he lived a sinless life for us, it's grace. 3:58 When he died on the cross in our place, it's grace. 4:01 When he rose from the dead to be seated at the right hand of the Father and to send the Holy Spirit, it's grace, it's God's righteousness at Christ's expense. 4:09 It's God doing for us and being for us what we could never do. 4:14 You see, jesus gave his life for us, to give his life to us, to live his life through us. 4:20 That's grace and friend, you are a trophy of grace. 4:27 Live in grace. 4:28 This is Pastor Derwin Gray Marinate on that.
