0:20 Welcome back. 0:21 This week on The Daily Blade, I'm introducing you all to some music that you may not have considered to be worship music before. 0:27 Again, a lot of guys just don't like contemporary worship music, but worshiping God through song is not optional. 0:33 So I just want to expand the category of worship music for you. 0:36 So yesterday we looked at the song Stigmata by the aggressive worship band Convictions. 0:41 And today we're looking at the song Death Defeated by the bluegrass band, The Altar Music. 0:46 So now I love me some bluegrass. 0:48 There's just something about it that just satisfies my soul. 0:51 Okay, we got the fiddle, we got the banjo, we got all that going on. 0:53 And the altar music is actually the house band for the altar fellowship church in Johnson City, Tennessee. 0:59 The lead pastor is Maddie Montgomery, who used to be the lead singer of one of the greatest Christian metal bands ever for today. 1:06 So lots going on there, but let's dig into Death Defeated, which is off their Welcome Home album from 2022. 1:13 So I love the first verse of the song, so let's just get right into it. 1:16 Flame in his eyes, sword in his mouth, robe drenched in blood, his name on his thigh, King of all kings, be lifted high. 1:24 I heard the host of heaven say, Come and see. 1:28 So if this person doesn't sound familiar to you, then you need to get some more exposure to the book of Revelation because they're talking about King Jesus here. 1:35 So flame in his eyes, that's Revelation 114. 1:38 His eyes were like a flame of fire. 1:40 Sword in his mouth, that's Revelation 116. 1:43 From his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, robe drenched in blood, that's Revelation 19, 13. 1:49 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is the word of God. 1:54 So is the blood from the cross? 1:56 Is it the blood of his enemies? 1:57 We don't exactly know. 1:58 Then his name on his thigh, King of all kings, that's Revelation 19, 16. 2:03 On his robe and on his thigh, he has a name written, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. 2:08 And then we have, I heard the host of heaven say, Come and see. 2:11 That's Revelation 6.1. 2:13 And I saw when the Lord or when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. 2:22 And this theme actually continues right into verse two. 2:25 So scroll in his hand, so that's Revelation 5.1. 2:28 Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back sealed with seven seals. 2:35 That's also Revelation 5, verse 7. 2:37 And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. 2:41 And then we see scar on his side, so that's John 19, 34. 2:44 But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water, and then John 20, verse 27. 2:52 Then he said to Thomas, Put your finger here and see my hands, and put out your hand and place it in my side. 2:58 Do not disbelieve, but believe. 3:00 We looked at that scripture yesterday as well. 3:01 And then we see Lamb that was slain, the lion has roared, the king of all kings, and Lord of lords. 3:07 So this is Revelation 5, verses 5 and 6. 3:10 And one of the elders said to me, Weep no more. 3:12 Behold, the lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals. 3:19 And between the throne and the four living creatures, and among the elders, I saw a lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 3:32 So, guys, there's more scripture weaved into the first two verses of the song than in some megachurch pastors' entire sermon series, right? 3:41 And and we haven't even talked about the chorus yet, so let's actually do that. 3:45 Well, we'll actually do the bridge into the chorus. 3:47 So lay your burdens down, the war is over now, the age of peace has come. 3:52 Every battle's won, love has conquered all, the age of peace has come. 3:57 Lay your burdens down, the war is over now, the age of peace has come. 4:01 Every battle's won, love has conquered all, death defeated, it is finished. 4:06 There is no end to his glory, hell is silenced, he has spoken, this is not the end of my story. 4:12 I mean, guys, that's the gospel. 4:14 That's the gospel right there. 4:16 So let's talk about first Corinthians fifteen. 4:18 We'll start in verse fifty-one. 4:20 Behold, I tell you a mystery. 4:22 We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. 4:25 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. 4:28 For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 4:33 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 4:39 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 4:48 O death, where is your victory? 4:50 O death, where is your sting? 4:52 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 4:56 But thanks be to God, but who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 5:02 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast and movable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 5:10 So, all right, guys, go check out Death Defeated by the Altar Music. 5:14 You will not be disappointed. 5:15 And come back here tomorrow where we'll highlight a worship song from a legendary hard rock band.
