0:20 What's up, guys? 0:21 David Pollack here, day four, filling in for Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson. 0:26 Kind of cool, kind of excited, man. 0:28 Excited to talk about prayer. 0:29 And um, prayer is such a powerful thing in our lives. 0:33 And I know you've read in the Bible where it's in so many places, and it's just, it talks about the ability to connect with God and to have a relationship with God. 0:42 And for me, for years, man, extremely transactional relationship. 0:47 Like I would ask him, you know, in the morning I would talk to him. 0:51 I would ask him, you know, around meals. 0:53 And just sporadically, when I thought about it, you know, it's something that I would reach out to God and holler at him. 0:59 But as I've gotten older, man, and I started to build some rhythms, it's really made a huge difference in how I talk to God and most importantly, how I hear from God. 1:09 And I use this system for me. 1:11 First of all, I have to be selfish in the morning if I want to be selfless the rest of the day. 1:16 And I have to get my prayer done first thing. 1:19 First thing I do is go straight to my sauna for 20 minutes. 1:23 And it's a non-negotiable. 1:24 Whatever time I need to get up, that's coming first. 1:27 And it's 20 minutes to pray. 1:28 It's to get still. 1:29 The Bible says, be still and know that I am God. 1:32 How many times do we really do that? 1:34 A lot of us want to hear from God, and we want to hear from God on an awesome high level, but we don't get still enough. 1:41 We don't have time to listen. 1:42 We don't make time to listen. 1:44 We don't make time to talk. 1:46 So creating that time for me in the morning is pivotal because I'm gonna get my 20 minutes every single morning. 1:53 And then I've started to develop a rhythm and I've started to develop the three R's. 1:58 And here's the three Rs for me that help me really bring God into my day, into my past, and help me succeed in my prayer life. 2:06 Because I'm gonna be honest, it can be boring, it can be monotonous. 2:11 Um, it can be something that you feel like you do the same prayer all the time. 2:16 But now, if I use my three R's, it has really helped me. 2:19 So the first R is reflect. 2:23 So reflect on what God did yesterday. 2:27 What did I do, man? 2:28 What did I do in the morning? 2:29 What did I do for lunch? 2:30 What did I do in the aft at nighttime? 2:32 Like, what are those moments I had yesterday? 2:35 What are the ones I have to be thankful for, man? 2:37 Because there's always a lot to be thankful for. 2:40 So I immediately reflect on the past and what happened. 2:43 And so now I've brought God into my past and what happened to yesterday. 2:47 And then I repent. 2:48 The second R is repent. 2:49 Now I've told God I'm sorry, because where did I mess up yesterday as I reflect? 2:54 Where did I use my words incorrectly with my wife? 2:57 Where could I have been better with my children? 2:59 Like I find those areas that I have to turn over to God because I wasn't good enough and I didn't do what I needed to do. 3:07 And uh and I need him to help me change my heart. 3:09 And the third R is repurpose. 3:12 God, I have X, Y, and Z today. 3:14 You know, I have a I have a breakfast, I have a lunch, there are things I'm gonna do. 3:19 Now I'm inviting God into my pattern. 3:21 Like, this is what I'm gonna do, God. 3:23 Please give me your words to speak today. 3:25 Like, help me when I'm in this moment, that I'm honoring you, that I'm glorifying you. 3:29 You know, one thing that the Bible talks about consistently, if you pray for wisdom, it will be granted. 3:34 So praying for wisdom should be something that we're seeking day after day, as much as we possibly can. 3:42 There's a few verses, man, that that I want to share with you about prayer in Philippians 4, 6 and 7. 3:48 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God. 3:58 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 4:06 Trade anxiety for prayer, and you get his peace. 4:10 Like, think about that, man, to be able to invite him into your day, and you'll get even more peace. 4:15 First Thessalonians 5, 16 through 18. 4:18 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstance, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 4:29 Pray continually. 4:30 It is his will for your life, right? 4:33 Build those rhythms so you build that space so you can do it. 4:36 Then Mark 11, 24, therefore I tell you, whatever, whatever you ask in prayer, believe you have received it, and it will be yours. 4:45 Faith in asking. 4:46 Have the faith when you ask. 4:48 Hebrews 4, 16, and we'll shut her down. 4:50 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. 5:00 Bold access to your Father through prayer. 5:03 Prayer is amazing, it's a gift. 5:05 Man, let's steward it well.
