0:20 Grace restores, grace restores. 0:24 Grace not only forgives us, but the power of grace actually restores us. 0:29 Grace restores what shame tried to bury and calls us back into purpose 0:48 is a story of grace. 0:48 Peter was a fisherman. 0:49 Peter had no business being a disciple to a rabbi In the first century second temple Jewish world of Jesus. 0:51 In order to be a disciple to a rabbi, you would have had to achieve academic and moral excellence in the Jewish school of development. 1:02 There's various trials that you go through. 1:05 Things you got accomplished. 1:06 The reason why he was a fisherman is he wasn't good enough to be a student of a rabbi. 1:12 But then the good knows to know that Jesus 1:16 does not look for the qualified. 1:18 Jesus qualifies the unqualified. 1:20 That's called grace. 1:23 So man Peter says he's going to follow the Lord and he does all incredible things. 1:28 And Jesus, I'm going to follow you. 1:29 And then comes the night of the betrayal and Jesus is looking for Peter and Peter's nowhere to be found. 1:39 So check this out. 1:40 Number one grace finds you in your failure. 1:44 The Lord turned and looked at Peter. 1:45 So Peter remembered the word of the Lord and he went outside and wept bitterly Luke 22, 61 and 62. 1:52 Jesus told Peter you're going to deny me and Peter said he wouldn't. 1:55 But then Peter remembered that. 1:58 But I want you to remember this Grace doesn't flinch. 2:01 When you fall, it finds you there. 2:03 Peter denied Jesus three times, but Jesus never denied Peter. 2:07 Your worst moment doesn't cancel your calling. 2:10 Grace looks you in the eyes and says you're still mine. 2:15 Number two grace heals what guilt tried to hold. 2:20 After Jesus raises from the dead and he's on the beach and he's grilling some fish, he calls Peter and Peter jumps in the water, swims over to him and they're having this elaborate, beautiful conversation and Jesus says this to Peter in John 21, 15 through 17. 2:39 Do you love me? 2:40 Feed my sheep. 2:41 He says it to him three times and three times Peter says yes. 2:45 Those three affirmations of yes were to cancel out the three times Peter denied Jesus. 2:53 Grace doesn't shame you, it sins you. 2:56 Grace doesn't shame you, it sins you. 2:58 Jesus doesn't rewind a failure, he rewrites the future. 3:02 Peter's three denials met with three declarations of love. 3:07 Grace restores identity by reminding you who you are in Christ, not who you were in your sin. 3:15 Number three grace restores your calling In John 21, 19,. 3:20 Jesus says to Peter follow me. 3:22 Just like the first time he met him he said follow me. 3:25 And again he says follow me. 3:27 Grace turns scars into your sermon. 3:30 Grace turns scars into your sermon. 3:33 Jesus didn't just forgive Peter, he recommissioned him. 3:38 The same man who denied Jesus became the preacher of Pentecost. 3:41 Grace says you're not done. 3:44 Let's build the kingdom together. 3:46 You may have walked away, but Jesus walked through the cross to bring you back. 3:51 Grace that restores doesn't just lift you up, it launches you into your purpose. 3:58 This is Pastor Derwin Gray Marinate on that.
