0:20 Grace changes your mind. 0:23 Grace has the ability to change your mind. 0:26 Take, for example, the story of James, the half-brother of Jesus. 0:32 So watch this. 0:33 Number one grace breaks through doubt. 0:36 Grace breaks through doubt. 0:38 There's this scene in John, chapter 7, where his own family, his own brothers, did not believe in him. 0:47 Can you imagine how hard it must have been for your own family not to believe that you were the Messiah? 0:53 John 7, 5 says this. 0:55 For even his own brothers did not believe in him. 0:59 Remember this grace is patient with your disbelief. 1:04 James grew up with Jesus, but he couldn't see him for who he was. 1:08 Often familiarity can blind us to the divine, but grace doesn't cancel doubters. 1:15 It keeps pursuing them. 1:18 Number two grace meets you in resurrection power. 1:23 In 1 Corinthians 15, 7, after Jesus rose from the dead, defeating the dark powers, crucifying sin and death, and in victory. 1:32 1 Corinthians 15, 7 says this. 1:35 Then he appeared to James. 1:37 Can you imagine that moment when your half-brother, who did not believe in you, 1:48 brother, who did not believe in you, who saw you flogged and whipped, who saw you crucified on a cross, sees you raised from the dead? 1:54 You see, grace shows up when your mind is ready to change. 1:59 Jesus didn't scold James. 2:01 He appeared to him after the resurrection. 2:03 One encounter with the risen Jesus changes everything. 2:07 Grace doesn't say I told you so. 2:09 Grace says I'm here. 2:13 Number three grace rewires your identity. 2:19 James 1.1 says this James, a servant of God 2:24 and of the Lord Jesus Christ. 2:26 Grace makes you a servant, not a skeptic. 2:30 James went from mocking Jesus to leading the church in Jerusalem. 2:35 He didn't call himself Jesus's brother, he called himself servant. 2:40 When grace changes your mind, it changes your name and your mission. 2:47 As history tells us from extra biblical sources, james was on top of the temple and religious leaders were persecuting him, saying Jesus is not the Messiah. 2:58 Denounce your faith. 2:59 And he wouldn't. 3:00 And so he was pushed off the temple mount, fell to the ground and still was not dead, and so he was actually clubbed to death in that moment. 3:11 Man, how do you go from denying Jesus to being pushed off the temple and clubbed to death for the one you denied? 3:20 What happens is grace. 3:23 Jesus didn't give up on James and he won't give up on you. 3:27 Grace is not just a second chance, it's a whole new start. 3:33 When grace changes your mind, it transforms your heart and unleashes a new purpose. 3:39 This is Pastor Derwin Gray Marinate on that.
