0:20 All right, day four of the Christmas edition of the Daily Blade. 0:24 If you want to win at Christmas, don't spend too much, watch your calendar, forgive. 0:29 And today we're gonna I'm gonna tell you if you want to be a winner this year at Christmas, be grateful. 0:35 Every single one of us live on a continuum between gratitude and entitlement. 0:39 And I'm telling you, you hardly look at a screen that does not scream entitlement. 0:44 It tells you what you deserve. 0:46 The Bible says this in Luke chapter 17, verse 11. 0:50 On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus was passing along between Samaria and Galilee, and as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. 1:05 When he saw them, he said to them, Go and show yourselves to the priest. 1:09 And as they went, they were cleansed. 1:12 And then one of them, that's right, one out of the ten, then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, he turned back, praising God with a loud voice. 1:23 And he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. 1:27 Now he was a Samaritan, and Jesus answered, Were not ten cleansed? 1:33 Where are the nine? 1:35 Was no one found to return and give praise to God except the foreigner? 1:40 And he said to the foreigner, Rise, go on your way, your faith has made you well. 1:46 So let me just ask you this question. 1:48 Do you have an attitude of gratitude? 1:51 I mean, are you the kind of person that spends more time complaining about what you don't have or focused on what you do? 1:58 You've probably heard me and Kyle talk about a gratitude list before. 2:01 If you want to win at Christmas this year, I would implore you to create or write a gratitude list. 2:07 What this means is this. 2:08 I just kind of made it up, okay? 2:10 For every year you have been alive, you should write down one thing to God that you were grateful for. 2:15 Now it does not happen have to happen in the year that you were alive. 2:18 I am 52 years old. 2:20 And a part of the reason I came up with this list is one day I was in the woods, like working on a sermon and hunting, and I began to feel sorry for myself. 2:28 I began to wonder why I get treated this way. 2:31 And I remember I just had like this check in my spirit. 2:34 I feel like the Spirit of God just impressed upon me how grateful I ought to be for all the many blessings. 2:40 And so I keep a list. 2:42 I just put it on my notes and my phone, and I don't read it every day, I don't read it all the time, but especially when I'm beginning to feel like I am entitled, when I'm beginning to feel sorry for myself, when I'm beginning to want some stuff that I don't have, instead of being grateful for the stuff that I do, I just 3:00 pop this list out and it's amazing. 3:03 I rarely have to go through all 52 before it completely changes my attitude. 3:08 Now I'm gonna read you my list. 3:09 Some of you are not gonna like my list. 3:10 I don't really care. 3:11 It's not your list. 3:12 And some of these things are very, very important. 3:15 And some of these things you might think are silly. 3:18 That's okay. 3:19 These are things I want to give thanks to God in all circumstances. 3:24 So here's my gratitude list. 3:26 Number one, salvation. 3:27 Number two, my wife, Gretchen. 3:29 Number three, my kids, JP and Reagan. 3:31 Number four, the church of 1122. 3:33 Number five, a mom and dad that have loved me in their own way, even though they couldn't love each other very well. 3:38 Number six, my health. 3:40 Number seven, my wealth, globally speaking. 3:42 Number eight, a staff team that follows and respects me. 3:45 Number nine, being American. 3:48 Number ten, being southern. 3:49 Number 11, the elders of the church. 3:52 Number 12, friends like Ben and Charles and Brad and Jeff. 3:56 Number 13, a sharp mind. 3:58 Number 14, Pastor Jerry Sweat and Beach Church. 4:02 Number 15, Coach Bull Lee and Camp Pine Hill, Baptist Retreat Center. 4:06 Number 16, the gift of preaching. 4:09 Number 17, I get to work with my friends. 4:11 Number 18, religious freedom. 4:13 Number 19, Mert. 4:14 That's my grandma, my dad's mom, who is with the Lord now. 4:17 Number 20, Lynn Turner for inviting me to serve at Youth. 4:20 She's the first youth minister I ever worked for. 4:23 Number 21, the woods of South Georgia, especially our retreat center. 4:27 Number 22, Dr. 4:28 Bill Ross for giving me a chance. 4:30 He hired me out of seminary. 4:32 Number 23, the life and legacy of Mackenzie Wilson, a 15-year-old girl here who got saved and passed away, and God used her story to save all kinds of people. 4:41 Number 24, my in-laws. 4:43 That's right. 4:43 I'll say it again. 4:44 My in-laws. 4:45 I have great in-laws. 4:46 Number 25, modern medicine. 4:47 I had an appendectomy about 20 years ago. 4:50 100 years ago, I would be dead. 4:52 So thank God for the modern medicine. 4:55 26, Taco Tuesday and Sunday fun days. 4:58 That's just code for family friends. 5:00 Number 27, people that constantly pray for me. 5:03 Number 28, clean running water. 5:05 Number 29, cool fall mornings. 5:07 Number 30, living in Jacksonville. 5:08 I think it's the greatest place on the planet. 5:10 Number 31, the beach. 5:11 Number 32, ministry connections. 5:13 Number 33, good bourbon. 5:15 Number 34, my neighborhood. 5:16 Number 35, Gretchen's Gift of Singing and Devotional Writing. 5:20 Number 36, Pheasant Hunting in South Dakota. 5:22 Number 37, our house. 5:24 Number 38, my children's friends. 5:26 Number 39, my truck. 5:28 Number 40, my calling. 5:29 41, Grace. 5:30 It counted for me. 5:31 42, God's Word is so accessible. 5:34 43, opportunity to invest in other pastors. 5:38 44. 5:39 All the campuses of the Church of 1122. 5:41 Number 45, the opportunity to impact one more generation. 5:45 46. 5:46 Being able to take the gospel into prisons. 5:48 I had baptized 67 people the day that I wrote that one down in a prison. 5:52 Number 47, my dad's salvation, which I prayed for for 30 years, by the way. 5:57 Number 48, my brother Russ. 5:59 I'm so proud of him. 6:00 49, Friday Night Lights. 6:02 50 back-to-back national champions for the Georgia Bulldogs. 6:06 Number 51, our Georgia House. 6:08 And number 52, Gretchen's smile. 6:11 I don't know how to explain it, but just counting the blessings of God in my life gets my attitude off of me and onto him. 6:19 You want to win this year at Christmas?
