0:20 All right, day four. 0:21 In our deep dive in Philippians chapter 2, 12 to 16. 0:25 Let me read it so that we can know it. 0:26 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now not only as in my presence, but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. 0:39 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent children of God without blemish, in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or 1:00 labor in vain. 1:01 So right after Paul says, Do everything without complaining or arguing. 1:08 Don't do anything that you will grumble or dispute in. 1:12 Right after he says this, he tells the result of what happens when believers do all things without grumbling or disputing. 1:20 You ready for this? 1:21 That you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish, in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. 1:31 That what you do as you're working out your salvation and put on display what God has done in you is that you shine like a light in a crooked and twisted generation. 1:41 He says, What you do, children of God, is that you are without blemish, that you are blameless, that you are innocent. 1:50 What it means to be blameless is that you have been purchased by Christ. 1:54 Your sin is paid for. 1:56 You are not perfect, but the blame for all of your sin has already been covered because Jesus took the blame. 2:03 And if you walked in that kind of reality, you would not complain and argue when you didn't get what you wanted because you have already been given what you did not deserve. 2:13 He also says, not only are we blameless, but we're innocent. 2:17 Well, technically speaking, nobody's innocent. 2:21 We were all born into sin. 2:23 We have all willfully disobeyed God and missed the mark. 2:26 So how does the Bible say that we are innocent? 2:29 It's because of the imputed righteousness of Christ. 2:32 He has wrapped you in his robe of righteousness so that when God the Father sees you, if you are in Christ, he sees the perfect life of his son. 2:41 He doesn't see the mess you've made of your life, but he sees your life through Christ as he sees him, and he sees you as righteous. 2:49 He says that we are children of God without blemish. 2:53 And what not complaining, it doesn't earn you a seat at the table. 2:56 No, no, no, no. 2:57 Your seat at the family table of God, that was an invitation by grace that we didn't deserve. 3:03 So since we didn't, what we did deserve was hell, and what we received is grace and a seat at the table with God, what we did receive is eternal life, then don't complain. 3:15 You ever take your kids on a vacation and they gripe and whine? 3:19 And as the dad, you were like, What are you doing? 3:21 I don't understand. 3:22 Why are you ruining everything? 3:24 You were getting to go to places that very few people on the planet ever have an opportunity to go for us to enjoy one another, and yet you're complaining over these little dumb things. 3:34 I imagine this is what it looks like to the Father when we complain about traffic or we complain about whatever we are complaining about because, as compared to the surpassing knowledge of Christ and the promise that we get to live forever with Him, it just doesn't make any sense. 3:52 So be children of God without blemish, because we live in a crooked and twisted generation. 3:57 We live in a generation that is entitled and consumer-driven. 4:02 And everybody in our culture that doesn't know Christ demands that the whole world bows down to the idol of me. 4:09 And guess what happens when you don't play that game? 4:12 When you're in your office and everybody else is complaining about the boss, and you simply decide to do everything without complaining or arguing, the Bible says, among whom you shine as lights in the world. 4:24 The NIV says that you will shine like stars in a crooked and depraved generation. 4:30 So if you're listening, if you listen to Kyle, if you listen to me, if you listen to the Daily Blade, I imagine you might want to make a difference for the kingdom of God. 4:40 You might want to push back darkness and expand the kingdom of God's marvelous light. 4:45 Do you know one of the primary ways you can do this? 4:48 Is that when everybody around you is complaining and everybody else around you is arguing, and you feel like you have the right to complain and the right to argue, Paul has the audacity to say, when you do everything without complaining and arguing, you will make an eternal difference. 5:06 You will shine like a star in a crooked and depraved generation that is all wrapped around the axle of me, and you will put on display a peace that transcends all understanding because you know the Prince of Peace himself. 5:21 So I dare you. 5:22 I challenged you yesterday. 5:24 Try to go 24 hours and do everything without complaining or arguing. 5:28 Do it again and again and again, and then pay attention to the kind of light that you can shine into the dark places of your family, your teams, your offices, your dorm rooms, wherever you go.
