0:20 All right, welcome, day two, as we pick it up in Philippians chapter two. 0:24 I'm going to read it for context. 0:25 I know it's a lot, but we'll never go wrong reading the Bible together. 0:28 Twenty-two and following says, But you know, Timothy's provenworth, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel. 0:35 I hope, therefore, to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me. 0:40 And I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come also. 0:43 I have thought it necessary to send you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker, and fellow soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need. 0:52 For he has been longing for you all and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill. 0:57 Indeed, he was ill, near to death. 0:59 But God had mercy on him, and not only on him, but also on me, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 1:06 I am all the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious. 1:14 So receive him in the Lord with all joy and honor him. 1:18 For he nearly died for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was lacking in your service to me. 1:25 All right. 1:26 I want to look at verses twenty-three and twenty-four. 1:28 Paul says, I hope therefore to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me, and I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come. 1:38 Here's the question that I get asked, probably more than any other question. 1:43 How do I know God's plans for my life? 1:45 Or how do I know what God's will or God's purpose is for my life? 1:48 That's a great question. 1:50 I want to give you a few things that you want to look that you want to look at to know what God's plans are in your life, and you see it right here in this text. 1:58 Is it okay to make plans? 2:00 Well, of course it is. 2:02 Um Paul has some hopes. 2:04 He says, What I hope to do is I want to send Timothy, and my plan is that I'm going to come also. 2:12 But what you'll see in this passage is what the Apostle Paul does is he takes his plan and he takes his hope, he takes his desire, and he submits it under the sovereign hand of the Almighty God. 2:24 He doesn't say this will happen for sure. 2:27 He says, But I trust in the Lord. 2:30 So I fully understand that God is at work in all things, that God is the one that numbers my days, that God is the one that marks out my steps. 2:38 And so I'm going to trust in the Lord. 2:40 But I'm not just going to sit back and do nothing. 2:42 I'm going to hope and I'm going to make plans. 2:44 So how do you know the plans and the hopes for your life? 2:47 First and foremost, you better know the word of God. 2:50 If you want to know God's will, you got to live God's ways. 2:54 And if you want to live in God's ways, you got to be in God's Word. 2:56 Thank you, Ruslan KD. 2:58 I got that from him. 2:59 And so one of the places in the Bible where it becomes very clear what God's plan is for your life is this. 3:04 It's called the Great Commission. 3:06 Jesus says, Therefore, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 3:11 Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. 3:21 And then he gives a great promise, and I will be with you always to the very ends of the age. 3:25 So that's God's plan for your life. 3:27 It's for the glory of God that you make disciples that make disciples that make disciples. 3:31 It's called the Great Commission. 3:32 So the question to ask as you're making plans or finding out your purpose for life is to say, God, what is my role and your great commission? 3:41 Like, how does my plan for my career and my family and where I'm going to live and all of these things, how does it accomplish your Great Commission? 3:50 And the only way that you're going to know how this works is you've got to know God's word. 3:55 If you want to know what God's will for your life is, you've got to know God's word. 3:59 That is step number one. 4:00 God is never going to tell you to do something individually that conflicts with what He has told us all to do corporately. 4:07 So does it align with God's Word? 4:09 Secondly, one of the best ways to know God's plans for your life is to get around some wise counsel, some godly men that love Jesus and know the word maybe better than you do, and that they, you should invite those kind of men into your life to speak into your life. 4:25 A part of the reason that I get to be the pastor of the church of 1122 is because my pastor gave me his blessing, his anointing, and he sent me. 4:34 And I can I am confirmed in the role that I am as God's plan for my life because I am under the authority of some very wise and godly elders that are overseers in our church. 4:45 Another thing, if you're married men, this is just a hack, you should listen to your wife. 4:50 Because when you stood in that vow, in that altar and you made a vow, God put you together, and God is God of unity, not division. 4:58 And so, what does your wife think? 5:01 And also, nobody knows you like she does, nobody loves you like she does, and no one is less impressed than she is, she will tell you the truth. 5:10 And then when you're in alignment with the word of God, when you figured out your role in the Great Commission and you've run it by some wise counsel, then you just pray like crazy, you guess, and you just go, knowing that the sovereign hand of God, if you have taken a wrong step, that if you have to send a great whale 5:28 or big fish to swallow you up and puke you out where he wants you, then he will do that.
